Don’t Let the “Big Apple” Become the “Cold Apple”!

Building managers and landlords, here is an important reminder:

From October 1 through May 31 (heating season), New York City building owners must maintain indoor temperatures of at least 68°F between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. when the outside temperature is below 55°F, and at least 62°F between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. 

Additionally, hot water must be available at a constant minimum temperature of 120°F year-round.

If these requirements are not met, tenants should contact the landlord and then call 311 to file a complaint.
