5 Fast, FREE Fixes!
It seems that the price of everything is going up these days – basic necessities and nonessentials alike. Many of our customers have asked us how they can save money on their energy bills, and we have five ideas we’d like to share that won’t cost you a single penny.
- Open blinds, shades, curtains, and drapes during the daytime to let the sunshine warm your home, then close them at night.
- Set your thermostat one or two degrees cooler than you normally would, and even lower at night.
- Avoid heating rooms you’re not using. If your home has central heating, close doors to unused rooms. If you have radiator-based heating, in addition to closing doors to unused rooms, turn off the radiators in those rooms.
- Remove air conditioning units from windows in the winter.
- Move furniture away from radiators and baseboard heaters: Aim for at least 6 to 12 inches of clearance to allow heat to circulate freely, preventing wasted energy and allowing for faster warm-up.
Now you know – you don’t have to spend money to save money! But we’d still like to hear from you – if you have any questions on how to conserve energy at your home, please give us a call.
